About
Show of Hands
The award winning Show of Hands Sign Language Choir was created back in 2018 by Susie Martin, a BSL Level 6 Teaching Assistant for Hearing Impaired primary school children.
What started out as a fun and simple way to introduce the local community to British Sign Language, has now become so much more. It has brought the local community together not only to promote Deaf Awareness but also to bring hearing and D/deaf communities together with a joint love for music. They feel part of something special, celebrate success, share their love of music, laugh and sign but most importantly form new lifelong friendships.
We have performed at many local events including local village Christmas fairs, summer fetes, family fun days and local elderly care homes some of which have kindly donated to our chosen charity 'Unique' which is very close to our hearts.
We recently took part in the National Sign Language Choir Competition in London and we are proud to announce our Junior Signing Choir was awarded 1st Place which means they are now National Champions! Our mixed age Signing Choir also received an award and were placed an amazing 3rd.
Our Show of Hands family are extremely committed to learning the language, so much so that many members who began knowing no sign language at all, have gone on to learn BSL Level 1, 2 and Level 3. We are all very proud of them!
We are a friendly, passionate and enthusiastic Signing Choir. Our aim is to always have fun and make people smile!!
